Adri Edeling - Maternity Shoot

Well, after 'missing' each other a number of times, I finally got to photograph Adri this last Tuesday morning at the Irene Dairy!

We kept on having to reschedule the shoot for unforeseen reasons, until we reached the very last possible opportunity - all I can say is thank goodness baby didn't arrive before the shoot!
Thank you Adri for returning to me to photograph this time in your life - I consider it a great compliment.

Theresa, Rob & Reece - Maternity Shoot

This is the first time I've done a Maternity Shoot for "Baba #2". Most moms just do their first maternity shoot and don't bother with another one.

Well! We combined a maternity and family shoot in one. It was so much fun to have the 'maternity' element in a family shoot and the lightness of the 'little person' in a maternity shoot.

I would recommend this to anyone who's expecting their second or third (or fourth... or whatever...) - I think that adding the element of siblings is just so gorgeous!

Although my first time photographing a maternity/family shoot - not my first time with Theresa and Rob infront of the camera! You will remember seeing them with Reece's own maternity shoot here and then Reece's newborn shoot here.

I love my job - especially when I get to see families grow and change!

Debbie & Jean

Debbie and Jean were a pleasure to photograph! Both of them were quite worried in front of the camera, but I explained that I hardly ever photograph people who are 'used to' being photographed! My clients are every-day people and my job is to capture their essence, their true nature.

Well, I must say that I so happy with the photographs that I managed to capture of Debbie and Jean - it was in those 'nervous' times that we would all end up laughing and then 'viola' the picture would be perfect!

I will be meeting their little baby soon for a Newborn Shoot - I can't wait!

Lisa & Dale

I was so happy to photograph Lisa and Dale - they are expecting their first baby (a beautiful little boy called Cole)! I know that they have had quite a journey thus far and becoming parents is a dream come true for them!

I think that their happiness and love for each other and for Cole just shines through!

Kerrie & Shaun - Maternity Shoot

A Maternity Shoot! I love these soooooo much!
Kerrie and Shaun are school friends of mine, so I was just thrilled to have the chance to give them photos to remember their first pregnancy by! Kerrie is due very very soon, and they are just thrilled to be welcoming a little girl into their world!

I hope that once she arrives, I will be able to post her Newborn Shoot!

Nanditha & Meetesh - Maternity Shoot

Last weekend I did a Maternity shoot for Nanditha and Meetesh. I have had mostly family shoots lately, so photographing these two was so much fun!!

Photographing children takes a certain amount of creativity (and sometimes bribery LOL)... and the pictures are so worth the effort! Photographing adults is different, because I can ask for the person to move slightly or face a certain direction - so it is easier to negotiate, but then the difficulty lies in 'natural' shots, because adults tend to be more 'camera-shy'.

So each kind of photo shoot offers up different challenges! But the natural-style pictures that I get out of them are worth it!!

So it was really refreshing to work with Nanditha and Meetesh this last weekend, after many many family shoots with kiddos running rampant!

I LOVE the pictures where Nanditha is wearing the dress - they are definately my favourites!

Hope you all enjoy!

Megan & Conrad - Maternity Shoot

Another 'reminiscent' post - :

My good friend Megan has been a supporter of my photography since I took my first unsure steps towards building a portfolio!

Needless to say, I was so happy to do her Maternity Shoot, and she was so excited and willing to try everything I suggested - thanks Megs!

Conrad, Megan's husband, was maybe not so excited about being part of a photo shoot (as is the case with many guys!), but he was really great and I got some great pics of the two of them together!

Megan and Conrad now have a healthy, happy, precious little boy Keaton, who is six months old and growing more precious every day! Go take a look at Meg's blog to meet Keaton: http://www.keatonjohnduplessis.blogspot.com/

On a personal note, I am now exactly 35 weeks! 5 weeks to go!

I am feeling a little more loving... a little more rational... a little more calm since my last post! This adventure of pregnancy is truly something else! Last night I was counting my Braxton Hicks contractions, as they seemed to be a bit too many (6 per hour), but they calmed down and showed no signs of getting more frequent or severe... Nevertheless, Darryl decided to spend the night on the couch with me (instead of out and about) just in case! Together we prodded and scrutinised my tummy with every 'contraction' - oh the joys!!

My last visit with Dr Makram confirmed that Malakai is still growing well (weighing in at 2.2kg's) and is healthy! My little boy is still very active, twisting and turning around, sticking his legs out and making my tummy look abit that scene in 'Alien'... I love to feel him move around, as every expectant mother does I am sure! I am amazed at the miracle of the female body, being able to grow, nurture and protect a new life!
Until next time!

Lusanda & Ifeanyi - Maternity Shoot

Today I travelled through to Sandton to photograph another maternity shoot! Lusanda and Ifeanyi have approximately 4 weeks to go before their little girl is born!

Wow! I love shooting maternity... I don't know if it's because I am expecting my own child soon... but there is just so much beauty in a pregnant woman, so much expectant energy and a glow that the camera can't miss!

I arrived early and Lusanda and I worked through many ideas, poses and outfits. Each was beautiful, but my favourite was definately the green-brown dress which really complimented her shape and was so feminine!

Thank you Lusanda & Ifeanyi for choosing me to assist you in capturing this special time - I am honoured (as usual) to be part of this time in anyone's life! I hope you will let me know when your little girl is born!
